Q1. What is durable plywood?
Answer: Plywood is a form of engineered or man-made wood that is used extensively for interior decor purposes. It is manufactured by layering thin layers or plies of natural wood veneers (core veneers and panel veneers alternatively) one on top of each other at right angles which are glued together with adhesives & additives. The adhesives & additives used in the manufacturing process of plywood give it its unique qualities– for instance, Yeti Ply’s BWP plywood is manufactured using only the best BWP grade resins that impart its waterproof qualities.
Q2. What are the different grades of durable plywood?
Answer: There are mainly three grades of plywood available in the Indian market, namely MR grade or Moisture Resistant plywood, BWR or Boiling Water Resistant grade plywood and BWP or Boiling Waterproof grade plywood.
MR grade plywood, commonly known as commercial plywood is a preferred building material for all commercial purposes. It is strong & durable, ensuring that your furniture stands the test of time. As the name suggests, it is fairly resistant against normal levels of humidity and moisture but is commonly used in areas where there is little to no probability of contact with water.
BWR plywood has a slightly higher resistance to moisture, humidity & water and is therefore used in areas that may or may not be exposed to water. It is still not 100% waterproof and should be avoided in wet areas.
BWP plywood is often called Marine Plywood due to its highest water resistance, is a superior grade of waterproof plywood. It is the most advanced variant out of the three and is widely used in all areas of a house, especially in the wet areas such as the kitchen, bathroom, dining room and such.
Q3. What are the features of durable plywood?
Answer: Plywood is one of the most dynamic building materials, owing to its numerous features. Keeping in mind the various needs of the Indian & global customer base, we came up with a versatile range of plywood that can cater to everyone’s needs.
– Supremely strong, owing to the hand-picked premium quality raw materials and highest quality of adhesives & additives used. Moreover, we use more numbers of plies for an extra boost of strength.
– Borer & Termite proof. Both our grade and BWP grade plywood is treated and completed protected from borer and termite attacks. – Warp & Bend Resistant. Yeti Ply’s plywood variants are dimensionally stable with an even, smooth surface. There are no core gaps present that may lead to warping or bending and eventual deterioration of the plywood.
Q4. What are the applications of durable plywood?
Answer: Plywood can be used in many interior decor elements, depending on its grade, thickness and size.
Grade: MR grade plywood should be used in dry areas of the house– for instance, to make the bed, sofa, bookshelves, desks & drawers, study table and more. BWP grade plywood can be used in every area of the house but should be specially used to make kitchen cabinets, coffee tables, dining tables, bathroom vanities and the likes.
Thickness: Plywood comes in different thicknesses to help you choose the correct one for your requirement. For instance, you will need thick plywood to make a weight-absorbing bed while thinner plywood will do for a coffee table. This is because the thicker the plywood, the denser it is, the stronger it will be. Apart from the density of the plywood, thickness also matters when there is a question of practicality. Thinner plywood works better to make compartments or partitions inside a closet or a drawer where thick plywood would not give the desired outcome.
Size: Plywood can be found in sheets of different sizes– a small sheet can be used to make a kid’s chair, table or even a bedside table whereas a bigger plywood sheet will be more feasible for making a home office table.
